How Much Does a Dating Coach Cost? UK Prices in 2026

Almost nobody in this industry publishes their prices, which is the first thing worth noticing about it. You email three coaches, get three brochures, two discovery calls and no numbers, and by the time a figure appears you are already halfway through a sales conversation.
So here are the numbers. This is what dating coaching actually costs in the UK in 2026, what sits behind each price tier, what you should expect to get for the money, and how to work out whether a particular coach is worth their fee before you hand over a card.
How much does a dating coach cost? The short answer
In the UK, one-to-one dating coaching typically costs between £60 and £250 per hour, with most established coaches clustered around £100 to £150. Six-session packages usually run from £400 to £1,500. Intensive programmes and weekend bootcamps sit between £1,500 and £6,000, and a handful of high-end coaches charge £500 an hour or more.
London is the most expensive market in the country, generally 20 to 40 per cent above the national average. Online coaching is priced the same as in person by most coaches, including me — the work does not get cheaper because there is a screen between us.
The four price tiers in UK dating coaching
Tier one, £50 to £90 an hour: newer coaches, recently certified, often building a client base. You can get real value here if the person is thoughtful, but ask how many men they have actually worked with and what happened.
Tier two, £100 to £180 an hour: the bulk of the established UK market. Several years of practice, a defined client type, and usually a package structure. This is the range most professional men end up in.
Tier three, £180 to £350 an hour: specialists — coaches known for one niche, with a public profile, a book or a large following. You are partly paying for the reputation.
Tier four, £2,000 to £6,000 as a programme: bootcamps, residentials and 'transformation' packages, frequently with an infield or approach component. This is where most of the industry's bad reputation lives, and where you should ask hardest about what is actually delivered.
What actually drives the price
Four things. Experience, measured in clients rather than years. Specialism — a coach who works only with professional men in their forties can be more useful in one hour than a generalist in three. Format, because in-person, group and intensive work carry different costs. And, honestly, marketing spend: a coach paying for ads and a funnel needs a higher fee to survive them.
What does not drive price, in my experience, is certification. There is no protected title for dating coaching in the UK. A certificate tells you someone completed a course; it tells you nothing about whether they can help you.
Single sessions versus packages
Most coaches discount packages by 10 to 25 per cent per session. That is fair — the work compounds, and a coach can plan better with a run of sessions booked. What is not fair is being required to buy twelve sessions before anyone has diagnosed anything.
A reasonable structure looks like this: a free call, the option of a single session, and a package available if you want it. If a coach refuses to sell you one session, ask why. Sometimes there is a good answer. Often it is a cash-flow decision dressed up as methodology.
Is a dating coach worth the money?
It depends entirely on what is stopping you. If the problem is skill or judgement — you meet nobody, you meet people and it dies at date three, you keep choosing the same person — coaching moves quickly, and six sessions at £400 is less than most men spend on app subscriptions and unpromising drinks in a year.
If the problem is depression, unresolved grief, addiction or the aftermath of an abusive relationship, coaching is the wrong purchase and a good coach will say so. That is a therapist's work, and no hourly rate makes a coach a therapist.
The other honest caveat: coaching only works if you do things between sessions. Paying £150 an hour to discuss dating articulately, and then changing nothing, is an expensive hobby.
What I charge, as a reference point
A single sixty-minute session is £75. Six sessions are £400, which is about £67 a session. The first thirty-minute call is free, and there is no obligation to buy anything on it.
That is deliberately below the London market. I would rather be affordable enough that a man books before things get desperate, and I would rather he stops when the work is done than commits to twelve sessions in advance. Sessions are in central London or online worldwide, at the same price.
Five questions to ask before you pay anyone
What is your hourly rate, in numbers, before we talk about packages? Who do you usually work with, and are they like me? What does a typical session look like? What happens between sessions? And: what kind of client do you turn away?
That last question is the most revealing one in the whole conversation. A coach who has never turned anyone away is selling, not diagnosing.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a dating coach cost in London?
- Most London dating coaches charge £100 to £250 per hour, with intensive programmes running from £1,500 to £6,000. London rates are typically 20 to 40 per cent higher than the rest of the UK. I charge £75 per session, or £400 for six.
- Is online dating coaching cheaper than in person?
- Usually not. Most UK coaches, including me, charge the same for video sessions as for in-person ones, because the work is identical. What online saves you is travel time — and it means you are not restricted to coaches within commuting distance.
- How many sessions do most men need?
- Four to six is typical for a specific problem — meeting people, first dates, or a pattern that keeps repeating. Some men come for a single session to make one decision. Longer engagements make sense when someone is rebuilding after a divorce or a very long time out of dating.
- Do dating coaches offer free consultations?
- Most offer a free call of 15 to 45 minutes. Treat it as a diagnostic conversation, not a sales pitch: a good coach will use it to tell you what they would work on first, and will say plainly if they are not the right person.
- Is a dating coach worth it for men over 40?
- Often more so, because the stakes are clearer and the habits are older. Men over 40 usually know what they want and are dating in a market that has changed since they were last in it. That is a solvable problem, and it is a large share of my practice.
